The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking an Exhibit Research & Development Administrative Intern. This is an unpaid position which offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to be involved in many aspects of the exhibit research and development process at OMSI through an administrative role. This position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Exhibit Research and Development Administrative Intern will assist OMSI’s Exhibit Development Team in the tracking and development of Design Zone, a new large traveling exhibit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of Exhibit Developers: • Develop and update record-keeping documents and timelines. • Communicate with interdepartmental and external stakeholders. • Design and modify exhibit proposal presentations. • Attend and record proceedings of exhibit development meetings. • Read and synthesize literature. • Research and report to team on possible exhibit content, educational approaches, and target audience. • Assist staff with filing, photocopies, mailings, data entry, phone calls, and maintenance of office space. • Assume other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

TIME COMMITMENT: 15-20 hours per week for a minimum of three to four months.

Qualifications:EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: The Exhibit Research and Development Administrative Internship position is open to undergraduates, graduate students and professionals in the field. Applicants should have an interest in better understanding how to create exhibit experiences that promote learning. Applicants should have experience in administrative support as well as research (e.g., Internet, library, interviews).
