Animal Aid, Inc. a non-profit, pet rescue organization and shelter located in SW Portland has one full time position open for a coordinator to manage our no-interest emergency veterinary service financial aid and our spay/neuter program. This position involves responding quickly and efficiently by phone to client inquiries for emergency and spay/neuter services for their pets. It requires accurate documentation of the results of each conversation into our call center system. It includes talking to veterinary clinics, arranging client appointments, and providing information about the program offerings to callers and veterinarians. The position may also include other projects, care of shelter animals, and additional administrative type work as needed. Animal Aid houses abandoned and stray cats in our shelter with dogs housed in foster homes.

Salary / Pay Rate:$9/hr with potential for increase at 90days
Required Skills and Abilities:Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: * Must have in depth animal care related knowledge to determine emergency situation priorities * Strongly prefer veterinary clinic experience (reception, vet assistant/tech) * Prefer typing speed of at least 40+ WPM * Prefer self starter/team player (small office environment of 3 people) * Strong knowledge of PC usage and programs (internet, email, Excel, Word, Access) * Strong professional interpersonal communication skills both oral and written including accurate spelling. * Ability to work in a stressful, emotionally demanding environment handling calls with compassion and professionalism. * Ability to prioritize calls according to need and to quickly, efficiently and professionally follow through to closure. * Knowledge of office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office system, record keeping and ability to stay within a prescribed budget. * Ability to, on occasion, lift up to 40lbs (litter, dog & cat food) * Ability to sit most of the day at a desk using the phone and computer * Ability to educate callers to the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation. * Strong team player with a sense of humor.
