Position Location: Portland Salary Range: $24,000 - $27,000 year Position Status: Full-time, 40+ hours per week Reports To: Director of Development

General Position Summary: The Development Associate assists the Director of Development with essential functions of all aspects of Development, in particular the membership program and database management, and helps to maintain the health of the organization’s overall fundraising programs and to achieve the directives set forth in the strategic development plan. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the management, health, and accuracy of the database * Enter contributions and additional updates and program activities into database on a daily basis * Generate standardized as well as custom statistical reports * Research, calendar, and register organization for various outreach events and attend on behalf of the organization * Provide support and act as membership promotion for donor activities and events * Coordinate list trades with other organizations when necessary * Assist with development-related website updates * Negotiate estimates and contracts with outside vendors and the U.S. Post Office to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency of mailings * Manage workplace giving programs and donors and ensure that Oregon Wild meets all requirements * Maintain an accurate mailing schedule and communicate deadlines to ensure that all materials are mailed on a timely basis * Assist Director of Development with the membership program, including printing and mailing renewal letters and calling lapsed members as well as providing monthly reports on renewal and acquisition statistics * Manage the monthly automated giving program as needed * Act as a contributing member to the organization’s Development Committee and work with the Director of Development in this capacity * Assist Director of Development with the drafting and execution of varied solicitations such as special appeals, direct mail, acquisitions mailings and email and web campaigns * Additional projects as assigned
Qualifications:
* Membership and direct mail (or fundraising experience) in a nonprofit organization required, experience in conservation or related areas is preferred * Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite is required. Experience with InDesign is desirable * Database experience required * High quality writing and communication skills essential, as is the ability to plan and implement comprehensive, goal-oriented programs and campaigns * Ability to meet deadlines, work efficiently and effectively both independently and as part of a team * Demonstrated track record of multi-tasking and successful attention to detail and accuracy * Strong customer service and organizational skills are important, as is the ability to work effectively under pressure * Outgoing, personable, engaging personality and high level of comfort interacting with the public * Must have notable initiative, be a self-starter and execute deadlines without constant supervision * Commitment to mission and programs of Oregon Wild a plus
