Site Coordinator Needed: Help Homeless Cats

Are you a natural born leader who would like to volunteer with animals? The Cat Adoption Team is looking for a volunteer Site Coordinator to manage one of our offsite adoptions centers.

Title: Outreach Site Coordinator

Reports to: Volunteer Services Manager

Purpose of Position: Manage CAT’s outreach locations working closely with Petsmart staff, CAT staff, and volunteers

Duties and Responsibilities: • Coordinate volunteer schedule and keep a calendar for AC and Caregiver shifts worked out at least a month in advance. You can encourage volunteers to trade shifts if they need to make a change. Communicate any big changes in the schedule with the Volunteer Manager. • Orientate new Caregivers and Adoption Counselors to your store or coordinate with another experienced volunteer to do this. • Choose cats at the shelter to take to outreach, this will be about once a week. This includes making copies of all of the cat’s paperwork. • Coordinate or contact CAT when sick cats need to be brought back to the shelter. Encourage volunteers to notify you when a cat may be sick. • Make sure you have a supply of forms, adoption booklets, updated posters and cardboard carriers in the adoption center. • Maintain good communication and relationships with the Petsmart staff. • Attend Coordinator meetings.(1-2 times a year) • Designate a person to write a brief, but interesting biography for each cat on their purple cage cards. • Abide by all policies maintained by organization hosting the outreach adoption center • Ensure near-daily full capacity at outreach adoption center • Communicate with volunteers about any changes, adoptions, needs, etc… • Organize system to maintain adoption center. Ex, changing out food and water bowls, deep cleaning litter boxes and cages, etc… • Weekly outreach report- due on Monday to Volunteer Manager • Returning adoption paperwork to the main shelter (faxed or mailed)

Qualifications: • Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers and staff • Excellent organizational skills • Must have own transportation; knowledge of cats • Ability to make independent decisions within established policies • Supervisory experience helpful • Ability to handle cats safely and compassionately; ability to take and seek direction; work independently; self-motivated work ethic • Ability to read cat behavior and safely work with animals and public at outreach • Ability to squat, bend, twist, lift, and climb step ladders when working directly with the animals • Possess strong customer service skills as all volunteer positions work directly with the public, staff, and other volunteers • Ability to organize and lead a group of volunteers

Training Requirements: All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation. Further training is scheduled with staff

Time Commitment: Approximately 10-15 hours per week

Coordinating is a position with a lot of responsibility, but is instrumental in the success of CAT’s outreach locations.
