The Oregon Environmental Council (OEC), in partnership with the Carbon Neutral Challenge for Oregon Wineries (CNC) is recruiting an intern who is interested in researching greenhouse gas sequestration in vineyards and the winemaking process. The CNC provides tools to enable wineries/vineyard to reach the goal of becoming carbon neutral by first and foremost reducing greenhouse gas emissions to the extent economically feasible, and the incorporating carbon offsets to reach the goal of carbon neutrality.

The initiative is looking to deepen its understanding of carbon sequestration and vineyard practices. The intern will conduct research and create a report summarizing the current research in the field by doing online research as well as interviewing scientists, professors, and others in the field of carbon sequestration and viticulture.

Ideal candidates will be viticulture/enology students with a science background who are passionate about sustainability and interested in helping a pioneering effort by Oregon wineries to reduce their environmental footprint. Incorporating research into class curriculum/projects is highly encouraged.

Position is unpaid, open until filled, and will last 2-3 months. Intern is not required to come into the office, but will be required to check in routinely. If interested, please send resume and cover letter to [email protected].
