Job Announcement: Executive Director for Oregon PTA

Title:                                      Executive Director

Status:                                  Part time .6 FTE

Salary range:                      $30,000 – $42,000 (for .6 time) DOE

 

BACKGROUND

The Oregon Parent and Teacher Organization (OR PTA) exists to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children. We also assist parents in developing skills they need to raise and protect their children; and we encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools.

 

THE POSITION

OR PTA is seeking its first Executive Director to provide leadership and vision across the organization and to external constituents, cultivate new resources of support, and expand the outreach and effectiveness of the organization. The first Director will need to implement and monitor systems, build relationships and insure the ongoing financial sustainability of OR PTA.

 

Are you an energized non-profit leader with the proven ability to oversee, nurture, and expand Oregon PTA?  This is an exciting position with the opportunity to help affect the lives of children across the State, and requires someone with the following experience and characteristics:

 

Experience leading a nonprofit organization providing clear and accurate budgeting and financial management. Proven success building financial strength of an organization by developing funding sources through partnerships, grant writing and sponsorships. An accomplished business leader with clear goal setting, strategic planning and operations management skills. Success working with Boards of Directors or other supervisory groups providing leadership, mentoring, inspiration and support. An ability to clearly communicate a passion for the goals of OR PTA to inspire others and galvanize the community and the legislature in pursuit of our mission. Superb written and oral communication skills to work effectively with a wide diversity of people. To promote the goals of OR PTA. Proven ability to build networks and relationships with people and organizations whose mission and values support the PTA. Ability to increase diversity in both the Board of Directors and the membership. Be a consistent voice with the legislature and partners through succeeding generations of the Board of Directors which change every two years. Proficiency in another language is desirable. Familiarity  with the structure of Oregon Public Education is an advantage, as is familiarity with the mission and structure of a Parent Teacher Organization.
