SUMMARY

Responsible for developing, implementing, managing and enriching a comprehensive fundraising, as well as public relations, program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Develop and implement the Board approved fundraising plan, including prospecting, cultivation of prospective donors, direct solicitation, and stewardship of donor relationships.  Work with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to expand the fund raising base for the agency, including the development of new funding sources.

Develop and implement the major gifts funding strategies.

Develop and implement all aspects of fund raising from various parts of the community, including: individuals, faith-based groups, civic groups, corporate and business groups, and others.

Oversee grant writing to foundations, corporations and others.

Develop, coordinate, and/or implement special fundraising events and projects.

Oversee all other Development Department activities, including database management and maintenance, and oversight of the agency mailing list.

Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all required Development Office reports on fundraising activities, including in-kind giving, for the organization.

Perform financial analysis and reporting of development revenue and expenses for the department, the Executive Director and Board, as required. Ensure the reconciliation of the Raiser's Edge data to the accounting system.

Develop and implement the Board approved marketing plan, including  coordination of public relations activities, production of the agency newsletter and  annual report, brochures and other publicity materials. Ensure that the organization's web site is well maintained and up to date.

Coordinate all publicity activities, including press releases, media interviews and public speaking engagements.

Effectively communicate agency policy, mission, values and decisions to program staff, volunteers, collaborating organizations, funders and the community.

Provide staff support to agency projects, Board committees and citizen groups as assigned by the Executive Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises Development Office Staff and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

·              Knowledge and experience in fund raising, public relations, and marketing;

·              Successful experience in resource development and fund raising;

·              Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and implement public relations programs and activities;

·              Working knowledge of public relations principles and practice;

·              Ability to develop and implement strategies and programs for effectively raising funds to enhance, expand and continue agency efforts to accomplish mission related goals and objectives;

·              Possess excellent oral and written communication skills as represented in grant writing, report writing, public speaking, and effective team building;

·              Possess good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple and varied tasks;

·              Excellent project management skills;

·              Ability and willingness to work as a team member and support Human Solutions’ mission and goals;

·              Exhibit good leadership skills that promote accountability, creativity and respect;

·              Bilingual and cross cultural knowledge and skills helpful;

·              Excellent computing skills, including Raiser’s Edge, Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, public relations or related field and at least 3 years experience in one setting; or 6 years experience in fundraising in more than one setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in social services preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Current Oregon Driver’s License and current automobile insurance

Able to be bonded
