Executive Director Position Announcement

The Oregon Chapter of NASW, is seeking a full-time Executive Director.  The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of the principles of association management, passion for the social work profession, social justice issue, and the legislative/political process.  They need to have the knowledge of and ability to: Articulate social work values; work with diverse populations; have strong communication and leadership skills; excellent membership recruitment and services; a thorough understanding of office management and technology; availability to travel throughout the state and work some weekends; and knowledge of the cultural diversity of the Northwest.

This is a salaried 1.0 FTE position with fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance benefits.  This position is located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, Portland, OR.  Some travel to designated Oregon communities is required.

Annual Salary:  Mid $50’s

Qualifications: 

·          Minimum three years management experience, preferably associated with a professional membership association.

·         Experience coordinating with boards of directors and a large, active group of volunteers.

·         Communication and leadership skills.

·         Experience and comfort working with diverse populations, allied professionals and the public.

·         Organizational development skills, including member recruitment/retention.

·         Degree required, MSW preferred.

Specific tasks include:

·          Direct strategic planning for and implement outreach to accomplish program and fundraising goals.

·         Development of Chapter Budgets.

·         Oversee database systems.

·         Work closely and collaboratively with NASW’s volunteer Board of Directors and members to ensure organizational success.

·         Flexibility, highly organized, ability to multi-task and prioritize various projects and deadlines.

·         Volunteer management and supervisory skills/experience, experience working with a Board of Directors.

·         Demonstrate leadership capacity; someone who thinks outside of the box; ability to set vision/direction and break down vision into concrete, short-term plan.

Abilities and Requirements:

·          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work in a team structure and to be self-directed.

·         Public relations and marketing skills.

·         Willingness to travel statewide and work occasional weekends.

·         Microsoft Office proficiency, Quicken experience helpful; basic html code skills and knowledge of other software programs such as Adobe.

·         Highly organized and detail oriented.

·         Public speaking, marketing, event planning, public relations/media outreach, & membership recruitment.
