Multnomah County is a dynamic organization consisting of approximately 5,000 regular employees providing diverse services to various groups across the County and the community at large, such as libraries, social services, public safety (jail management), assessment and taxation and many others.

We are proud to say our Information Technology group is 150+ strong and we service around 90 buildings throughout the greater Portland Metro area. Our technical environment offers something for everyone – we run a cross-platform environment (Solaris 9 and 10), Linux, and Windows. We support over 700 business applications throughout the County, as well as 8,000 voice/ fax lines and multiple call centers. Our 6,000 desktops continue to keep things interesting with a blend of laptops, Windows desktops and think clients. We are looking for a seasoned Windows Systems Administrator to work closely with our applications teams, customers, and vendors to design, architect and implement appropriate solutions and processes. • Liaise with cross functional groups including technical teams, customers and vendors in designing, architecting and implementing application solutions. • Design, architect and implement software and hardware solutions and the associated recovery capabilities • Provide regular updates to senior management and customers on project and systems status • Recognized as a leader around training and mentorship to junior staff • Oversee new hardware and software installation, upgrades and support activities with internal and external team members and vendors • Visionary • Effectively able to estimate, prioritize, budget and identify key resources in delivering projects successfully

Advanced Expert! • You will be tasked with providing technical assistance and support for strategic enterprise servers and midrange computer operating systems • Install new versions, releases, or maintenance levels of existing operating systems or enterprise application software • Identify, recommend and implement ways to automate internal processes • Proven ability managing technical projects including budgeting, purchasing, and project team supervision • As directed, delegate work assignments to other team members taking into account work activities and work performance • Able to manage technical projects including budgeting, purchasing, and resources, utilizing adopted project management standards and tools • Active participant on projects teams for new development and upgrades in both application and infrastructure areas

Documentation • Develop and write technical manuals, procedures, and documentation for complex systems • Ensure documentation is updated regularly and current • Perform technical writing duties in the development and production of system documentation and procedure

Technical Requirements • Able to effectively and accurately detect, isolate and resolve complex technical system problems • Create and modify scripts in a variety of languages (VBscript, Unix Shell, PowerShell, etc) • 5 years of advanced level experience designing and architecting enterprise hardware and software solutions
