Aurora Chorus Spring Concert "To Sing is to Fly" May 16th

All Woman Chorus features Oregon Composers in next concert, “To Sing is to Fly”

Portland, OR May 3, 2010 – Over 100 area women members of the Aurora Chorus will join in song on Sunday, May 16th at First United Methodist Church, 1838 SW Jefferson Portland, Oregon giving two concert performances of “To Sing is to Fly.”

Conducted by award winning composer Joan Szymko, the program will celebrate music for its own inherent beauty and grace. Concert offerings will include music by 19th century composers Schubert and Dvorak; by contemporary composers Morton Lauridson and Gwyneth Walker; Oregon composers Ron Jeffers and Joan Szymko. Aurora Chorus will also sing favorites by Linda Allen, Steven Walters and some traditional American music: swing, gospel and hymns.  Something for every taste. A banquet of song.

Since 1992, Aurora has blended the strength of women and the power of music to heal and inspire. Led by director and composer Joan Szymko, Aurora Chorus consists of over 100 women from the Portland area. Aurora presents two concerts each season as well as appearing at community outreach events.
