Summer Camp: Abernethy's Garden of Wonders!

15th 9am-1pm. Cost: $120. Campers will get their hands dirty and plant, harvest and care for the gardens at Abernethy Elementary.  Participants will learn about local food, urban farming, and edible natives.  Ages 5-12 welcome.  Greening-the-Neighborhood: Building and Gardening Camp! July 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th. 9am-4pm. Cost: $215.  Campers will have a chance to see chicken coops in Ladd’s Addition, learn about the water catchment system at New Seasons, and help build cold frames (to house our veggies in the winter), a new compost bin, a new worm bin,  a bean trellis, and a container it the kitchen-courtyard for culinary herbs to green the Abernethy schoolyard!  Science in the Garden: August 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th 9am-3pm. Cost: $220. Campers will learn about the magic of compost, the role of pollinators and bugs, and the art of seed saving. Campers will also learn about nutrition while making seasonal dishes in the kitchen. One day will include a walking field trip to a local restaurant for a tour and talk with some real Chefs! Abernethy’s Chef Nicole will be co-leading all 4 summer camps and cooking/harvesting be woven into each camp. If you child is particularly excited about cooking please let us know on your application form.
