This person is responsible for developing, refining and executing the camp programs to support the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp mission and philosophy.

This person directs day to day operation of the camp in compliance with approved safety, health, American Camping Association standards, Oregon State DHS standards, and Clackamas County Health department. Coordinates camp activities with the PSU representative to ensure quality college course requirements.

Required Skills and Abilities:•Bachelors degree in Special Education, Recreation, or Physical Education and 5+ years experience in summer camp setting. At least 2 of these camp seasons must have been in a supervisory role. •ACA Camp Director certification preferred. If not certified at time of hire must be able to obtain certification within the first year and before the summer 2011 camp season. •Minimum of 6 months experience working with people with disabilities and a strong commitment to the community of people with disabilities. •Must be at least 25 years of age. (ACA requirement) •Must have demonstrated experience in hiring, training, and supervising a diverse staff. •CPR, First Aid and Oregon Intervention System certification required within the first year of hire and before the summer of 2011 camp season. Must be willing to obtain Epi pen, ropes course and lifeguarding certifications. •Some strenuous physical activity, must be able to lift at least 30-40 pounds •Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required •Team player with excellent communication skills and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced, high stress environment. •Independent, motivated self-starter with a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail. •Strong organizational skills with the ability to function simultaneously in a camp and in an office setting.
