Marketing Intern

Commitment: at least 3 months, preferably 6 months or more Hours: a minimum of 10-15, those hours may be worked in an combination at the discretion of the intern and the supervisor.

Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) is recruiting a Marketing Intern to assist our Director of Membership and Marketing. The individual will be responsible for helping build awareness of OEC and increasing our membership, specifically increasing younger membership. This is a great opportunity to experience working in a nonprofit environment while enhancing marketing skills.

The Intern will: • Assist in developing and implementing a social media strategy • Communicate with the public by responding to emails and comments posted on OEC’s website • Assist in community outreach at meetings or events; provide feedback and strategy to make outreach/events more effective • Writing blog entries • Assist OEC staff with related marketing assignments • Assist in launching Emerging Leaders Board • Play an integral role in the launch of new membership strategy • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Experience synthesizing complex ideas/concepts • Ability to manage multiple projects • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills • Professional demeanor • Willingness to learn • Prefer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint • Prefer candidates majoring in Marketing, Communications, Business or similar field

The intern is considered an integral part of the Marketing & Membership department and as such, their ideas and input will be valued.

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, motivated and possess the desire to produce excellent work. This role requires strong creative skills and the ability to take initiative and work independently.
