The Policy Coordinator will be responsible for: (1) Participating transportation and food policy coalition meetings, (2) Defining a healthy transportation policy agenda for the Portland region, and (3) Engaging in policy advocacy efforts to promote healthier transportation options for the region.

Specific duties include: • Track the transportation planning processes at the Metro Government, Portland and Gresham level • Assess the highest priority policies to promote for a healthier transportation and land use planning system • Advocate for policy priorities through in person meetings, testimony and distribution of materials • Attend and provide input to the Multnomah County Food Initiative

Salary / Pay Rate:$38,000 - $44,000 Full-time equivalent, depending on experience (.6-1 FTE)
Required Skills and Abilities:Hours: We are encouraging applicants to apply that are interested in between 0.6 and 1.0 FTE. The final agreement on hours will depend on the breadth of skill set of the applicants and congruence with projects identified for action. Partial or full benefits will be provided depending on final FTE agreement.
Qualifications:Qualifications: We are seeking someone with academic or experiential background in transportation / land use planning. In addition, a strong candidate will: (1) Understand the key links between our transportation system and human health, (2) Have strong oral and written communications skills, and (3) have at least one year of working experience in policy advocacy. Additional experience in public health policy a plus. Bachelor’s degree required; applicable master’s degree preferred but not required.
