Help the Dogs at the Oregon Humane Society

Spruce up Dog Walking Paths with the Oregon Humane Society

Put your gloves on and lend a hand to the Oregon Humane Society! We’ll be working to bark dust our dog walking path, prune bushes, move dirt and level ground, create new paths, weed, plant native plants, remove debris and invasive species (like ivy, blackberry, thistle and scotch broom) to keep our grounds clear and comfortable for both dogs and walkers alike.

Upcoming project dates include:

Saturday, June 5th from 9:00am-1:00pm Saturday, June 12th from 9:00am-1:00pm Saturday, July 24th from 9:00am-1:00pm

Please email Sasha at [email protected] to sign-up. Please include your first and last name, phone number, email address and date you would like to volunteer.

Volunteers should bring gloves if you have them, as well as a water bottle. And please dress for the weather, as we will be outside! Oregon Humane Society requires all volunteers to wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Due to the nature of the work, all volunteers must be able to squat, stand, bend, lift and twist for long periods of time.

NOTE: Our parking lot is often filled during prime weekend hours. There is street parking available along NE 11th Ave, off of Columbia Blvd. and across the street in our overflow lot. The shelter does not open until 10, so a representative of the shelter will meet the group at the main entrance of the building to let the group in, so please be on time!

The Oregon Humane Society’s mission is to foster an environment of respect, responsibility, and compassion for all animals through education, legislation, and leadership; to care for the homeless, to defend the abused, and to fight with unrelenting diligence for recognition of the integrity of all animals.

OHS also requires Youth ages 12-17 to have a waiver form. Please click the following link to download the form http://www.oregonhumane.org/volunteer/documents/YouthGroupWaiver_2008.pdf and bring it with you to the shelter. All youth under 18 are required to have health insurance in order to participate. Please ensure forms are complete with parent signature and health insurance information prior to arrival at the shelter. Youth under the age of 12 CANNOT volunteer at OHS.
