Summary

The Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is seeking to fill a new position—Business Development Representative. BEF is a national, nonprofit organization. Our mission is to support the development of renewable energy and watershed restoration while empowering people to shrink their carbon footprint.

The Business Development Representative works as a member of the Climate Business Group and is responsible for generating relevant new business opportunities with BEF’s Water Restoration Certificate product. Other responsibilities include selling BEF’s Renewable Energy Certificate and carbon offset products. The Business Development Representative is a subject matter expert, representing the quality and consistency of BEF’s brand and service to both new sales opportunities and secured accounts.

Success in this position is measured by meeting financial goals through closing new agreements, retaining accounts, and developing and maintaining a robust pipeline for new business.

Salary / Pay Rate:Commensurate with experience, BEF provides a generous benefits package.
Required Skills and Abilities:Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions • Meet quarterly and annual revenue targets. • Track and report sales activities including pipeline of opportunities. • Present and sell BEF products and services to current and new potential clients as an authority on BEF’s work and products. • Develop and prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific potential clients to target. • Develop strategy and budget implications for pursuing potential clients. • Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from both inquiries and field activity. • Drive deeper opportunities with BEF’s current clients through promoting value-add activities. • Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts in a professional manner. • Maintain accounts with BEF’s NetSuite database. • Collaborate with BEF marketing staff to develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge. • Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through client activity to appropriate company staff. • Coordinate with BEF staff to accomplish the work required to close sales. • Leverage BEF’s participation at events such as seminars, trade shows, and client-driven outreach opportunities. • Assist in on-the-job training to new employees in the department.
Qualifications:Required Skills and Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or an environmental/sustainability-related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience. • Demonstrable experience in developing new business opportunities and meeting revenue expectations. • Knowledge of emerging environmental commodity markets such as renewable energy, carbon offset, and water markets, industry trends, competitors and leading customer strategies. • Experience in promoting environmental sustainability and solutions to a business audience. • Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate the value of a strategic relationship between BEF and its customers; strong ability to craft tailored presentations and proposals. • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. • Requires excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills.
