Oregon College of Oriental Medicine is pleased to announce a search for a Director of Clinic Operations for its busy teaching clinics that provide over 30,000 patient treatments per year using acupuncture, herbal medicine and Asian therapeutic massage.

Position’s Mission: The mission of the Director of Clinic Operations is to provide leadership for the business and operations of the OCOM Clinics in support of its mission to provide exemplary care to patients and revenue to support the college's operations. In addition the Director of Clinic Operations is primarily responsible for coordinating patient recruitment efforts, developing new revenue streams within the Clinic's mission and ensuring that the OCOM Clinics model best practices in business management for the student interns.

Salary / Pay Rate:$50-58k
Required Skills and Abilities:The successful candidate will have significant experience in leading all aspects of business operations in a medical or educational clinic setting including: • Ensuring an exemplary level of customer service provided to patients, interns and faculty members, • Management and development of the operational team, staffing, and other HR issues, • Oversight of daily operations and policies/procedures, • Development of Clinic business systems and processes including insurance claims, patient records and other operational systems. • Management of the Clinic P&L, budgeting, development of compatible new revenue streams, • Management of the Clinic’s facilities and space utilization in a multi-site environment, • Experience in clinical risk management and workmen’s compensation processes, and • Facility with a variety of computer systems, software and databases sufficient to collaborate with IT in the development of new systems to meet future needs of the Clinic. In addition, because we are a nonprofit educational institution training future licensed practitioners of acupuncture, bodywork and herbal medicine, the successful candidate must demonstrate significant experience and skills to: • Serve as a resource to student interns in learning clinic operational best practices, • Effectively communicate with and collaborate with clinical faculty and interns to ensure the best academic outcomes as well as patient outcomes. • Cultivate a basis of non-fee support (grants and gifts) for the Clinic’s care of low-income patients and special grant-supported patient care projects (eg, smoking cessation, etc.) • Collaborate with the College’s Research Department in collection of patient’s clinical outcomes data to facilitate scholarly research into acupuncture treatment effectiveness, • Effectively market Clinic services, including training interns in effective marketing strategies • Devise optimal pricing structures to meet the goals of the College and Clinics
Qualifications:• The Director of Clinic Operations will report to the Chief Financial Officer with collaborative relationships with Academic, Development and Institutional Assessment leadership. • Experience with audits and accreditation protocols is helpful, otherwise familiarity with clinical continuous quality improvement processes is important. • Successful candidate is expected to exhibit a high level of computer proficiency. Knowledge of Medisoft, QuickBooks, database design, and all MS Office applications will be important to success in carrying out the duties of the position. • Must demonstrate strong initiative, creative thinking and a positive “whatever it takes” attitude in carrying out all duties, great or small. • Positive leadership, collaboration and team-building skills are critical. The Clinic has several potential compatible business opportunities to be explored and developed. The successful candidate will be willing to research, develop workable business models and lead these efforts while maintaining quality in existing operations. • MBA or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare, or graduate degree with deep experience desired. Must be a lifelong learner no matter what the attained level of education. This position is full-time, salaried exempt, benefited position currently located in SE Portland. Pay will be commensurate with your experience level within our salary ranges for similar positions.
