Volunteer Arts Curator—World Pulse Magazine

The Arts Curator will play a key role in producing the “Arts” department of World Pulse Magazine. World Pulse is a media organization that covers global issues through the eyes of women. We produce WorldPulse.com, as well as a semi-annual print magazine, and a social networking newswire, called PulseWire.

In our print edition, we review fiction, nonfiction, movies, documentaries, and global music that may be of interest to our globally savvy readers—individuals who believe they can make a difference in the world and are drawn to learn about and support women and youth leaders worldwide.

The ideal volunteer will have a firm grasp of our editorial mission as well as a passion for the arts. If you have a particular interest and background in at least one area of our arts coverage (books/music/films), if you are enthusiastic about arts and media as a tool for women’s empowerment, and if you have excellent organizational skills, this volunteer position may be a perfect fit. We are looking for up to three Arts volunteers to work collaboratively to support the development of our Arts section.

Responsibilities:

-Research upcoming books, music, or film releases

-Recommend arts items for review according to our editorial mission

-Request review copies from publishers and distributors

-Contribute to writing reviews

-Perform relevant documentation and administrative tasks associated with the Arts department

Required skills:

-Research skills

-Organizational skills

-Strong written skills

Helpful skills/experience: Background in journalism, music, filmmaking, or publishing

While this is an unpaid volunteer position, it is a learning opportunity and a chance to assume a challenging and important role in the production of a magazine—and to put your creativity and love of the arts to good use!
