OMSI Transcription Volunteer
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a Transcription Volunteer to work with members of the Evaluation and Visitor Studies team to transcribe video data related to family learning at the museum.
COMMITMENT: • This is a short-term volunteer position, with a preferred start date of June 7 and a completion date of June 25. • The estimated total work time is 60 hours, based on 12 hours of video. The work will be provided in two batches, evenly divided. Batch 1 must be completed by June 18, and Batch 2 must be completed by June 25. The work could be shared by two volunteers. • Must be available to perform the work at OMSI within a Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. schedule.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Strong keyboarding skills (at least 50 words per minute). • Experience using common software programs, including Microsoft Word. • Prior experience with transcribing from video recordings preferred but not required. • Self-motivated with good problem-solving, judgment, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. • Attention to detail • Able to commit to completing the project from start to finish.
