The K-16 Development Specialist will contribute to developing & implementing OHCC’s fundraising plan to increase financial & in-kind support for our youth programs. This position will also increase program visibility and enhance partnerships to open up new opportunities for our youth participants. As a result of these efforts, the K-16 Development Specialist will increase OHCC’s capacity to serve disadvantaged youth (elementary to college students) in our after-school science & health careers programs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Strengthen individual donor program to support K-16 programs. • Coordinate fundraising events including annual auction and annual appeal. • Procure new in-kind resources to support k-16 programs (i.e., snacks and supplies for program participants, food for volunteer events, etc.) • Research and identify sources of funding for OHCC’s K-16 programs. • Collaborate with staff to write grants that support youth programs. • Identify, strengthen, and track OHCC’s partnerships with community’s schools, health providers, colleges and businesses, which support K-16 programs. • Increase public awareness of OHCC’s K-16 programs. • Revise & refine program marketing materials including brochures, fact sheets, & displays. • Write and publish a monthly newsletter. • Build and track relationships with media. • Write and distribute press releases. • Complete general office duties related to position (mailings, filing, phone calls, community out-reach, etc.). • Attend CBVC/AmeriCorps*VISTA sponsored orientation, trainings, meetings, and disaster response courses. Salary / Pay Rate:VISTA members receive a monthly living allowance ($833 - $865). In addition to the living allowance, they also receive healthcare benefits, loan forbearance and childcare (if eligible). Upon successful completion of their year of service, VISTA members can choose to receive either a cash stipend of $1200 or an Education Award of $5,530. VISTA’s also receive ongo-ing training and development as well as the satisfaction of “getting things done” in their community.
Qualifications:• An independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful individual with a commitment to OHCC’s mission. • Experience working with diverse populations. • Strong verbal, & written communication skills – A writing sample is required. • Marketing and/or public relations experience preferred. • Fundraising/grant writing experience preferred. • Comfortable with computers, proficient with Windows Office Suite and database programs. Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver) experience preferred. • Valid driver’s license & good driving record (OHCC vehicle available for agency-related travel).
