position summary:

Summary of Position: The Program Director serves in a leadership role for Step It Up, Inc., acting as one of its primary representatives. The Program Director works with the Executive Director, Community Organizer, Program Coordinator, Marylhurst MAT students, and Career Coaches to develop, implement, and evaluate the programs and services of the 2010 summer program.

Salary / Pay Rate:Benefits: Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Required Skills and Abilities:Primary Responsibilities: o Develops curriculum for the 2010 summer PIP using best practices based materials. o Represents the organization at public events and/or involves board members as needed. o Serves as a contact person for state and local agency partners, Oregon Department of Education, Portland Public Schools (PPS) and other collaborating organizations. o Provides ED and board members the necessary information to enable them to adequately plan for necessary resources, communications, and emergencies. o Responsible for managing evaluation of the organization's programs and services. o Shows respect, acknowledgement, and integrity toward all constituents we serve.
Qualifications:Required/Preferred Qualifications: o High school teaching certification (Required) o Interest in education and youth career development. o Passion to assist high school students to succeed in their career goals. o Passion for Step It Up, Inc.'s mission and values. o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent, effectively and professionally, the organization to a wide variety of audiences. o Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative are a must. o Excellent written and oral communication skills. o Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. o Excellent organizational and project management skills are essential, including initiative for independent program management. o Demonstrated knowledge of how policy and programs are created and evaluated.
