Fruit Thinning (hands-on workshop) with the Portland Fruit Tree Project

Wednesday June 9th, 2010. 5:30pm - 8:30pm In this hands-on workshop, you will learn about the importance of fruit thinning and gain some first-hand experience with this practice. We're excited to have Heidi Noordijk teaching this workshop. Heidi is the crew leader at Sauvie Island Organics - a 17 acre vegetable farm. She studied horticulture at Michigan State University and Cornell University, specializing in pomology (tree fruits.) Heidi has participated in research projects involving apple tree physiology, berry production, and tree fruit entomology. Pre-registration is required. This workshop is free of charge for tree owners who have registered fruit trees with us. Otherwise, the class fee is a sliding scale from $10-25. In addition, a limited amount of scholarships / work-trade opportunities are available. This workshop will be hosted by one of our registered tree owners. Exact location details will be provided after you sign up.
