Background:

Oregon Manifest is a 501c4 non-profit organization comprised of Portland area creative and bicycle industry experts. Oregon Manifest exists to promote the bicycle’s role as a tool for more sustainable living; bring consumer awareness to quality, locally made craftsmanship; support the growth of small-scale-production bicycle industry; and enforce the Portland, Oregon brand as an international hub and leader in cycling, design, and innovation.

The Oregon Manifest Constructor’s Design Challenge is a biennial event supporting the mission of Oregon Manifest. In 2009, the Oregon Manifest Constructor’s Design Challenge showcased twenty-nine design entries from bicycle frame builders representing seven states across the nation. Entrants presented best solutions to a bicycle designed for daily transportation before a panel of industry and consumer advocacy experts. Winning entries received international acclaim, viewed by nearly 6,000 spectators in Portland, Oregon and by thousands more virally.

The Position:

Oregon Manifest is searching for a highly connected individual with proven success and a strong understanding of fundraising, sponsorship programs, and marketing communications to take our organization to the next level. Working actively with the Oregon Manifest team and partner organizations, the Development specialist will research relevant cultural trends, market sectors and media channels to develop compelling sponsorship proposals. The OM Development Specialist will identify appropriate opportunities, cultivate and maintain prospective donor relations, secure funds from corporations and government sources, and create supplemental revenue streams to meet event budget goals.

Qualifications:Candidates will possess: a deep passion for bicycles and excitement around our mission; expertise in and affinity for community building; a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years experience in marketing communications, fundraising or a related field; at least four professional references in area of expertise; exceptional communication skills, written and verbal; strategic thinking with strong problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail; event management a plus; an appreciation for product design and the revival of small-scale-production craftsmanship.
