Public Hearing to Decide Coal’s Fate in Oregon

Public Hearing to Decide Coal’s Fate in Oregon Wednesday June 23rd 6:30—8:30 pm The Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th Ave

Portland General Electric (PGE) operates Oregon’s only coal plant located in Boardman, Oregon. The Boardman Coal Plant emits 5 million tons of carbon dioxide (that’s equivalent to almost 1 million cars), over 15,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide and over 200 pounds of mercury every single year making it Oregon’s largest stationary source of global warming pollution.

Oregon’s clean energy future can only happen if we act take action to kick Oregon’s addiction to coal. There is an important hearing on the fate of the Boardman Coal Plant. The Oregon Public Utilities Commission will hold a public meeting to decide whether or not to invest over half a billion dollars in the aging coal plant and run it till 2040.

We need you to attend and tell the PUC that further investment into this aging coal plant is bad for Oregon. By attending this hearing you can help ensure Oregon goes coal-free and invests in a clean energy future!

Come early to get a free sign and t-shirt to show your support for clean air in Oregon!
