Willamette West Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical nonprofit dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness. Located in Hillsboro, Oregon, WWHFH is part of Habitat for Humanity International and serves Portland’s Westside, including Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, and portions of Clackamas County. Since 1989, WWHFH has built 60 homes together with volunteers and partner families.

This position is a part-time temporary assignment with an anticipated October 2010 expiration. Work week and hours are negotiable, however Tue, Wed & Sat AM hours required. The role of the Volunteer Coordinator is to support the affiliate's efforts to recruit, retain, deploy, and recognize our volunteer workforce. These efforts are accomplished through multiple activities that include e-mail and phone communications, daily work site briefing meetings, and more. The incumbent must fully support and cultivate an environment of teamwork and camaraderie among affiliate staff, volunteers and the community we serve.

Duties and responsibilities include:  Maintain the volunteers’ database, ensuring that contact information is current and accurate  Monitor the volunteer schedule daily and follow up with the Construction Manager and volunteers as needed to ensure appropriate numbers for volunteers are available at each site on days of scheduled construction  Contact scheduled volunteers and volunteer groups one to two weeks out from their scheduled site date to confirm commitment  Conduct morning on-site briefings each affiliate work day. The purpose of these meetings is to verify registration status, gather liability waivers, and conduct a brief HFH orientation and safety awareness  Maintain statistics on volunteer utilization in order to determine current and future volunteer needs  Review Volunteer Satisfaction Surveys, respond promptly to any negative feedback as appropriate, and prepare summary monthly reports for the Executive Director and the Construction Manager  Contact individuals and groups who have demonstrated an interest in volunteering to answer questions, provide information, ultimately to schedule to work or provide other services and goods  Analyze, identify, and make recommendations for process improvements, as appropriate  Audit Liability Waivers on file against current volunteer database to ensure waivers are current  Obtain signed waivers from volunteers who do not have current signed agreements on file  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:- A strong customer service focus - Solid written and verbal communication skills - Excellent grammar, spelling, proofreading skills - Proficient with Windows software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. - Good organizational skills with attention to details - Valid driver license and good driving record - Available to occasionally work evenings and weekends as needed - Ability to lift up to 50lb occasionally to move supplies or equipment - Ability to sit for periods of time at a computer or for use of other office equipment - Ability to stand for 1 to 4 hours for public speaking engagements and work site briefings
