position summary:

The Donor Relations Intern will help assess, develop, and implement three new development activities aimed at increasing individual donor revenue to increase NICWA’s capacity to deliver core services to American Indian children and families. The Donor Relations Coordinator will work with development staff to create innovative ways of communicating with donors, develop and implement policies and procedures that protect the integrity of donor information, and utilize a creative process for developing unique and innovative marketing materials for new and potential donors. The Donor Relations Coordinator will also work with NICWA’s Development Manager and Executive Department staff to contribute ideas and efforts to the organization’s annual fundraising strategy, research and process for identifying funding sources, as well as write grants/funding applications.

Required Skills and Abilities:• Above-average writing skills and knowledge of English grammar • Typing and general computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.) • Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to juggle several ongoing projects at a time • Excellent people skills and sensitivity to cultural differences • Some experience with databases (Access, Raiser’s Edge, other fundraising software)helpful
Qualifications:1. Has strong knowledge of Indian culture, social service systems and policy structure 2. Has ability to understand and utilize planning process to develop fundraising strategies and activities with emphasis on long term planning and annual work plans 3. Has ability to write clearly and present ideas, concepts and principles in manager that is consistent and understandable. 4. Has ability to work in a collaborative team environment, both in leadership and peer relationships 5. Has ability to develop and manage a sophisticated development tracking system to support staff and board activities for fund raising
