Brown Bag Lunch Series - Learn About the History of Japanese Americans in Oregon

Bring your lunch and come listen to the Black United Fund of Oregon's featured speaker, Valerie Otani, discuss the history of Japanese Americans in Oregon. Valerie is an artist and member of the Oregon Nikkei Endowment & Portland Taiko.

You will learn about the Japanese-Americans' expulsion from Portland in WWII, re-establishment in Vanport, and draw connections to the racially discriminatory elements in law and housing that link the Japanese-American and African-American experience.
