OMSI Adult Education Internship

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking an Adult Education Intern. This is an unpaid position which offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to gain experience and build their resume at one of Oregon’s most recognized non-profit institutions. This position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.

INTERNSHIP SUMMARY: The Adult Education Intern helps to maintain and create education programs for adults in a dynamic and growing department at OMSI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain the OMSI Adult Education email distribution list and assist with the design of monthly emails. • Edit Science Pub presentation recordings, synchronize them with presenter slide shows, and post them at http://www.slideshare.net/OMSIsciencepub. • Collate and record information from evaluations of ongoing OMSI Adult Education programs (including Science Pubs and OMSI After Dark). • Organize and file evaluation forms from past programming. • Conduct online research for local researchers and companies that can provide educational content for OMSI Adult Education programs. • Work with OMSI’s Marketing department to research additional social media outlets for promoting Adult Education programs, and update content as assigned. • Update OMSI Adult Education website content as needed. • Assume other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Adult Education Manager.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Extremely organized, detail oriented, and a team player. • Ability to stay focused and manage time effectively. • Excellent work ethic and ability to work independently. • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Audacity, or Drupal a plus.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: OMSI’s Adult Education Intern should be working toward or have completed a Bachelor’s degree, with coursework or experience in the sciences, education, marketing, communications or related fields. TIME COMMITMENT: 10-20 hours per week for 3-6 months.
