Peninsula Children's Center is looking for a Program Specialist

Peninsula Children’s Center, an independent nonprofit organization, is the oldest and largest child care provider in North Portland. We provide quality, affordable child care in a community financed child care center for infants through preschoolers, as well as before and after school care in several area elementary schools.

We are looking for a Program Specialist who is committed to supporting children and families from diverse backgrounds by providing administrative, family, and program support services. Initially, this position will manage center tours, enrollment of new families, maintenance of the wait list, assisting families in applying for child care subsidies and social service needs, and other projects as needed. Duties may change to include more work directly with program later in the year as we bring on a second Program Specialist. Must be familiar with local social services and working with at-risk families to access them, have a good understanding of developmentally appropriate early childhood practices, have good communication skills, be organized, a good problem-solver, and proficient in using basic office software.

Minimum qualifications: AA degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field such as psychology or social services. BA preferred. Minimum of three years working full time with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and their families in group care settings or two years working in family social service settings.
