POSITION: Homeless and Community Outreach Coordinator

RESPONSIBLE FOR: This Coordinator will provide outreach and services to the homeless throughout Yamhill County including coordinating the Homeless Count and the Community Connect event.

LOCATION: YCAP, 800 NE Second St., McMinnville, OR 97128

DUTIES: 1. Provide quality service to program teams, management teams, volunteers, homeless people and the public by active listening, positive problem solving, and timely responses. 2. Plan and implement self-sufficiency classes for shelter residents and case managed housing clients. Coordinate holiday activities and services for YCAP clients and low-income families. 3. Coordinate the Homeless Count, assess data, develop reports. 4. Coordinate the Community Connect event, providing services and direct assistance to low income people. 5. Prepare printed materials, reports, flyers, publicity materials, presentations, and training materials as needed. 6. Develop marketing and media contacts for recruitment of volunteers and organizations as needed for the events. 7. Evaluate data and document activities to provide a guide for future coordinators. 8. Expand membership marketing and fund development opportunities through community and professional contacts, training, and involvement in collaborations and cooperative activities with other agencies, groups, or organizations. 9. Attend OSSC/AmeriCorps sponsored orientation, trainings, meetings and disaster response courses. 10. Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: BA or BS degree or equivalent experience Knowledge of computers and word processing Skill in written and verbal communication Skill in supervising and motivating volunteers Skill in working independently on multiple projects in a timely fashion Ability to work with diverse people, organizations and situations Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements

AmeriCorps MEMBER BENEFITS INCLUDE: 1. A taxable, monthly living allowance (before taxes, approximately 1,072). 2. Upon successful completion of a term of service, eligible members/leaders receive an education award of $5,350. The education award can be used to repay qualified student loans or for further education in an accredited institution of higher learning, vocational or trade schools. The education award is taxed in the year that it is used. 3. Loan forbearance (after successful completion of a term of service, AmeriCorps will pay the accrued interest on qualified loans, which is taxable). 4. Basic medical insurance (covers members only, not dependents; vision and dental not included) 5. Childcare assistance for those who qualify 6. Professional development, trainings and networking opportunities.
