Peace Camp for Kids, Aug. 2-6- Register now!

BroadArts Theatre is accepting registrations for its summer camp to be held August 2 – 6. Peace Camp offers children aged 8 – 12 the opportunity to explore the concept of peace through the arts: drama, music, and visual arts. During the week, children will work on both individual and group projects leading up to the final theatrical production. Various arts workshops will help children develop artistic skills, as well as creativity techniques. The creative process can foster both self-discovery and the understanding of others.

“In finding ways to express an idea through art, children learn what they think, what others think, and how to resolve differences effectively,” stated Pepper Kim, the camp’s Education Coordinator. “The creative process can teach powerful ways to achieve peace, both within oneself and with others."

Peace Camp will take place August 2-6, 2010, from 9 AM to 4 PM daily at the Rose City Park Presbyterian Church, located at 1907 NE 44th and NE Sandy Blvd. The cost is $120 per child. Scholarships and a sliding scale are available based on need.

Peace Camp is supported in part by the McKenzie River Gathering Foundation (http://www.mrgfoundation.org/). Over 200 children have attended Peace Camp in the past and enjoyed putting what they learned during the week into a closing day performance for family and friends.
