The Independent Living Special Projects Coordinator supervises a team which provides a variety of services to people with disabilities and seniors and/or members of their support systems, in collaboration with community partners and grantors. These services include leading small groups, providing direct services, and information and referral. The Independent Living Special Projects Coordinator will reflect the organization’s mission through commitment to Independent Living philosophy. This position is full time, 37.5 hours per week, with excellent benefits.

Salary / Pay Rate:Compensation will be based on qualifications.
Required Skills and Abilities:The successful candidate will have demonstrated capability to: Coordinate and supervise team activities Conduct outreach and service coordination with community partners Successfully complete training for STEPS program certification Work effectively as a peer counselor for consumers transitioning from nursing homes to independent living settings Work effectively as part of service delivery team in collaboration with other ILR staff Record all relevant data in web-based management software Develop and submit regular program reports Participate in scheduled professional development, team supervision & staff meetings Perform other duties as assigned by ILR supervisor Adhere to ILR policies and procedures Skills Required Excellent leadership, collaboration, communication and teaching skills Excellent organizational skills Good knowledge of state in-home services programs and area resources Superior computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and adaptive software as needed)
Qualifications:Experience Two years previous experience teaching, facilitating workshops or leading groups (required) Two years experience with social services agency or Center for Independent Living (required) Life experience with disability or chronic illness (preferred) Education BS in Social Work, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Counseling, or similar degree required, Masters preferred Essential Functions of the Job Ability to provide own transportation as required to provide services (local and occasional regional travel) Ability to work independently, conducting effective group trainings, individual case management and consultations Ability to accurately fulfill reporting requirements Ability to Lift 20 lbs Please note: This position requires making home visits with consumers, many of whom have service dogs or companion pets.
