The Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is seeking to fill a new position—Senior Business Development Representative. BEF is a national, nonprofit organization. Our mission is to support the development of renewable energy and watershed restoration while empowering people to shrink their carbon footprint.

The Senior Business Development Representative works as a member of the Climate Business Group and is responsible for generating major account sales of BEF’s Renewable Energy Certificate, Water Restoration Certificate and carbon offset products. The Senior Business Development Representative is a subject matter expert, representing the quality and consistency of BEF’s brand and service to both new sales opportunities and secured accounts. The Senior Business Development Representative will work closely with the VP, Climate Business Group to develop, measure and achieve volume sales and profit goals for the group.

Required Skills and Abilities:• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or an environmental/sustainability-related field and a minimum of 5 years business development/sales experience. • Demonstrable experience in developing new business opportunities and meeting revenue expectations including strong ability to cold call, secure appointments and close sales. • Strong knowledge of emerging environmental commodity markets such as renewable energy, carbon offset, and water markets, industry trends, competitors and leading customer strategies. • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans and performance measuring systems. • Experience in promoting environmental sustainability and solutions to a business audience. • Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate the value of a strategic relationship between BEF and its customers to both public and private audiences; strong ability to craft tailored presentations and proposals. • Self motivated in pursuing strategies and tasks. • Requires excellent persuasion, communication, networking and relationship building skills. • Requires excellent organizational skills, database management and attention to detail. • Knowledge of environmental commodities trading and/or policy preferred.
Qualifications:Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions • Work with the VP, Climate Business Group to develop and implement long and short term strategic sales plans for expanding BEF’s market share and increasing sales volumes. • Build and maintain a substantial pipeline of major corporate prospects from various sectors. • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential key corporate accounts. • Prepare professional presentations for new partner corporations and prospects. • Achieve aggressive new business goals by meeting monthly revenue and margin quotas through cold calling, networking, and other prospecting activities. • Represent BEF at major industry events and speaking engagements. • Assist the VP, Climate Business Group with assessing the departments business protocols and make recommendations for optimum productivity. • Assist the VP, Climate Business Group with managing the department’s sales contracts and proposals. • Develop and manage a system for measuring department sales activities including prospecting and closing sales. • Provide on-going excellent customer service to BEF’s major accounts. • Provide guidance to other sales staff in VP’s absence. • Travel up to 50% of the time.
