Montavilla Farmers Market--Volunteer Sustainability Role

THE MONTAVILLA FARMERS MARKET'S AWARD-WINNING DURABLE DISH PROGRAM is recruiting a Volunteer Assistant Manager

Learn hands-on, innovative waste prevention strategies. Help make sustainability happen each week. Have fun while doing it!

The Montavilla Farmers Market pioneered the first-in-Portland Durable Dish program in 2009. Durable Dish replaces disposable paper, plastic and compostable food serviceware items with durable plates, forks, spoons and tumblers.

Now in our second Durable Dish season, we expect to keep over 3,000 paper plates/boats/plastic clamshells; 3,500 plastic utensils and 300 plastic cups/lids/straws OUT of the waste stream in 2010!

Markets are on Sundays through the end of October. Train with our Master Recycler program manager, then share responsibility for running the Durable Dish program. The number of Sundays you work is flexible. (Free lunch at market on the days you work!) This is a volunteer role.
