The primary function of this position is to support technology systems at the school. The IT Assistant will be working with the IT Consultant and Assistant Head of School.

This position is part-time, Monday through Friday, approximately 3 hours per day.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Support to Childpeace Administrative and Teaching Staff

1. Provide assistance and training to staff on information systems as necessary including (but not limited to) operating systems (PC and Mac), basic software applications (Office, Google Mail, Firefox), and network navigation.

2. Create instructions for basic computer and software processes to be distributed to employees. Organize systems trainings as needed.

3. Troubleshoot end user hardware, network, and software issues

4. Perform installations, repairs, and preventative maintenance on staff computers

Computer Systems Maintenance

1. Perform system upgrades as necessary for software and hardware related components as needed.

2. Perform light administrative duties on network servers.

3. Monitor backup procedures and perform occasional recoveries to ensure backup integrity.

4. Assist with contacting vendors and service providers of IT equipment and supplies for efficient and effective office operations.

5. Establish network users, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed.

6. Install, upgrade, and configure network printing.

7. Upgrade network hardware and software components as required.

Salary / Pay Rate:$12-15 per hour
Required Skills and Abilities:Computer Skills 1. Intermediate to advanced knowledge and understanding of current PC and Mac operating platforms and common business software programs. 2. Intermediate to dvanced knowledge of both PC and Mac operating systems and networks. 3. Familiarity with Contribute and Filemaker a plus. 4. Advanced knowledge of networking systems and function 5. Sets up and maintains basic network operations, including assembly of network hardware, and provides assistance to the network administrator. Specific Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing. 2. Organization; will be responsible for documenting all work and maintaining the IT binder. 3. Detail-oriented. 4. Ability to work independently, without continuous supervision and guidance. 5. Ability to work in a collaborative environment while still being effective and efficient. 6. Ability to interface with a wide variety of personality types and technology skill level, including novice users and students. 7. Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure and time constraints. 8. Ability to assess and evaluate current and future work loads. 9. Ability to research, analyze, and conceptualize long-term information systems needs. 10. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. 11. Flexibility in schedule and accessibility outside of work hours to address questions or concerns.
Qualifications:Education and Experience 1. High school diploma degree and experience supporting computer users. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience a plus. 2. Knowledge and understanding of current trends and developments in information technology.
