*Position Title:* Tryon Creek Ecology Field Team Leader (2 positions)

*Position Summary:* The TCEF Team Leaders will work with Friends of Tryon Creek Staff to mentor 8 high school students in field ecology projects at Tryon Creek State Park. Team Leaders will work with 2 groups of students for 15 weeks each. This program is based on a strong service-learning model, which encourages student participation in creating and executing restoration projects to protect park habitat. These projects may include the construction, maintenance, and monitoring of brush check dams on seasonal tributaries, surveys of nesting sites for significant bird species found in the park, or restoration of native plants in areas impacted by non-native invasive plant species. These are just 3 examples out of many opportunities for students to learn about local ecology through the process of protecting park habitats. Team members will also work to support environmental education programs for elementary students visiting the park on school field trips.
