position summary:

Our Oregon is adding a new member to our communications team. This new member will lead the communications work on economic security and financial reform. Our work in this area includes advocating for state policies aimed at rewriting the rules that shape our financial well being, improving consumer protection and strengthening fair lending laws.

Responsibilities

- Develop and execute strategic communication plan

- Work with outreach team to identify, recruit and prepare people who put the human face on our issues

- Serve as the project manager overseeing development of a new website

- Develop and manage all online communication

- Serve as the lead writer for all organizational communications including: talking points, legislative testimony and persuasive one-pagers for internal use with our partners, elected officials, and community leaders

- Work with leadership team to distill and humanize complex policy proposals

- Develop professional relationships with reporters and columnist and become a trusted resource for accurate and timely information on our issues

- Coordinate and execute timely media response to related issues and events including: drafting LTE text and guest opinions for coalition partners and other allies

Salary / Pay Rate:Excellent compensation package including a competitive salary
Qualifications:- Strong writing skills with an emphasis on crafting concise public messaging about complex issues - A commitment and passion for consumer rights and economic fairness - Flexible, creative, adaptive - Proficiency with multiple online communication platforms - Experience: 3 to 5 years in a position with substantial responsibility for decision-making, project management and meeting organizational goals.
