Become a Foster Parent at Boys & Girls Aid

Boys & Girls Aid, a non-profit child welfare organization celebrating 125 years of service to children, is looking for adults to open their homes to youth in need of a family. We welcome compassionate, nurturing and responsible adults who are over 21 years of age, able to pass a criminal history check, have an Oregon drivers license and a safe driving record, have a separate room for foster children, and able to demonstrate financial stability.

At Boys & Girls Aid we work with families to determine what opportunities compliment your lifestyle. Your level of commitment is based largely on what is best for you and your family. Some families enjoy the flexibility of placements lasting 30-90 days allowing them to build a relationship with a youth without the commitment of long term care. Other families host older youth who are learning independent living skills so they will lead successful adult lives; these placements may last up to two years. All families should live within a reasonable communiting distance from downtown Portland as most of our programs require daily transportation of foster youth.

As a foster parent you will provide youth with what they need most; a safe home, people to care for them and hope for the future. Boys & Girls Aid helps foster parents succeed through comprehensive training, the support of a professional team that is available 24/7, case managers with small case loads who are responsive to the needs of Foster Parents, on-going opportunities for continuing education, paid time off and a monthly tax-free reimbursement ranging from $900 - 1200 per youth.
