Description: Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest provider of HIV prevention, education, housing, advocacy and support services in Oregon and Southwest Washington. We are seeking a part time HIV Prevention Specialist to implement HIV prevention activities and outreach to MSM (men who have sex with men) in community settings and online web sites. Responsibilities include planning and delivering the HIV prevention intervention RESPECT involving intensive one-on-one risk reduction counseling; conducting HIV counseling, testing, and referral services; staffing Pivot, a community space with a focus on MSM; participating in prevention department events and activities and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Manager of Prevention Services and is likely to increase to full time.

Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field or 2 years of experience working in human services • Demonstrated computer and keyboard proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet including internet chat rooms • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic and sexually diverse populations • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with community stakeholders • Ability to work independently with accountability; exercise sound judgment and discretion • Must be available to work evenings and weekends • Previous experience in community organizing or conducting community outreach programs • Strong understanding of gay/bi men’s issues and how they affect or influence service delivery

Preferred Qualifications: • Previous professional or volunteer experience working in HIV prevention • Previous experience conducting HIV counseling and testing • Knowledge of behavioral health models • Previous experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers • Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish

Salary / Pay Rate:$14.04 - $18.55 an hour (part time position at 20 hours a week) depending on experience; employer-paid health, dental, vision, long-term disability and life insurance; 401(k) retirement plan with generous employer matching contribution, 125C cafeteria savings plan; generous vacation and health leave benefits.
