Suicide Intervention Training (ASIST) Aug 5-6, Portland

There is still space available for the two-day ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) on August 5 and 6, 2010. It will be held at Portland State University, Graduate School of Social Work, in Portland, Oregon.

This two day training (14 hours) provides practical suicide first-aid training for all types of caregivers. Learn how to recognize opportunities to help, assess risk of suicide, apply a suicide intervention model, and practice skills. Youth workers, law enforcement, mental health practitioners, foster parents, health workers, faith community leaders and any other potential caregivers are invited to attend!

ASIST is the result of more than 20 years of research and development and is the most widely used suicide intervention program in the world. You can find more information about the training at www.livingworks.net.

For more information on the cost of the training (limited scholarships are available!) and how to register, contact Kathy Wilson-Fey (see contact info below). Kathy can email flyer and registration form. Registrations are due by July 30 and space is limited.
