The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine is a non-profit educational institution that trains Master's and Doctoral students in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. OCOM’s academic programs are among the most comprehensive in the country, providing students with a solid foundation in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, therapeutic massage, and qi cultivation, as well as a focus on collaboration between Chinese medicine and Western biomedicine. We are seeking a System Administrator with a passion for customer service.

Reports to: Director of Information Systems and Technology

Responsible for: Directing all campus information systems and technology related functions to meet internal and external stakeholder needs, and business requirements at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. This includes the maintenance of existing technologies and the planning, development, and implementation of new technologies.

Essential Functions: • Provide desktop support. • Manage server hardware and software. Design, implement, and manage/administer Windows Server technologies platform (2003/2008) • Manage Windows/Mac PC hardware and software. • Manage new software and software upgrades. Oversee software licensing compliance. • Design, implement, and manage/administer virtual technologies platform (VMWare Vsphere, Hyper-V 2008). • Design, implement, and manage/administer remote access technologies (VPN, Remote Deskop Services, Terminal Server, Citrix Presentation Server). • Manage continuity planning, benchmarking and reporting. • Design, implement, and manage/administer disaster recovery solution (local/remote recovery technologies, infrastructure technologies, open source). • Manage data backup system and archive. Manage data recovery. • Contribute to IT documentation. • Design, implement, and manage/administer Windows messaging and collaboration platform (Exchange 2003/2007/2010). Maintain group lists. • Manage telephone system, voicemail system and VOIP technologies. Implement mobile phone network solutions. • Manage WAN/LAN infrastructure (routing and switching technologies). • Design, implement, and manage/administer Internal, Campus (student), and Edge network security technologies. Manage threat and content protection, Corporate antivirus, messaging protection solutions. Manage internet security. • Implement best practices. • Administer/manage Windows database server technologies (SQL 2000/2005/2008) and online MYSQL databases. • Consult on equipment/software budgeting. Manage purchasing/inventory/repair of equipment/software. • Consult on strategic planning and the Technology Plan. Participate in the Campus Technology Planning Group. • Research and implement infrastructure improvements. Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies. • Maintain knowledge of Open Source software solutions. Analyze Open Source software solutions and implement as necessary.

Salary / Pay Rate:$55 - 60K annual salary plus benefits

Required Skills and Abilities:Knowledge: • Understanding of the application of accepted Project Management principles • Basic knowledge of sql queries, html, php • Basic knowledge of LAMP server environments and open source web technologies Skills: • Interpersonal communication and customer service skills • Troubleshoot Windows/MAC PC hardware and software issues • Troubleshoot server hardware/software issues • Budgeting, planning and reporting. Purchasing. • Attention to detail in documentation Abilities: • Ability to work effectively with diverse population possessing a wide range of computer literacy skills Other Requirements • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment where cross training, communication (both written and oral), creativity, and documentation are essential
Qualifications:Education: • CCNA or higher equivalent and/or the equivalent IT field experience • Associate/bachelor in Computer Science, MCSE/MCITP, and/or the equivalent IT field experience Experience: • Five years professional experience in a directly relevant field.
