Duties/ Responsibilities: 1. Create a safe and welcoming environment for children whose parents or family members attend our Rent Well classes 2. Play (using toys, crafts, or games) and talk with the children. Encourage exploration and learning. 3. Provide emotional support for children whose parents or family members participate in Bradley Angle and who are survivors of abuse or have witnessed abuse in their families. 4. Communicate with your supervisor, staff, and other volunteers about children's behavior. 5. Become aware of indicators of child abuse. Be willing to make a child abuse report to the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare, with the support of your supervisor. 6. Maintain the childcare area and supplies in an orderly fashion. 7. Other duties as negotiated.

Salary / Pay Rate:$10.00 per hr.

Required Skills and Abilities:Completion of a minimum 6 hour Child Care Advocate training.
Qualifications:Qualifications: 1. Respect for children and enjoyment of interactions with them. 2. Patience. 3. Ability to listen and communicate effectively. 4. Ability to relate non-judgementally to families and children from different backgrounds, including parents or children that might be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. 5. Ability to work with children using only non-violent discipline and intervention. 6. Commitment to incorporating understanding about the connections between oppressions (racism, homophobia, classism etc.) into service provision.
