position summary:

The Senior Educator is responsible for facilitating the visitors’ learning experience within OMSI’s exhibit halls and labs. Visitors include the general public, school groups, and special event attendees. The Senior Educator works directly as a science educator on the museum floor, develops and delivers programs, coordinates staff and projects, and takes responsibility for scientific accuracy in the activities presented in the halls and labs.

Salary / Pay Rate:Pay Range: $29,676 - $36,352 per year
Qualifications:The ideal candidate must have, but not limited to, a BA/BS in science or education; and minimum three years museum experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, a minimum of 3 years working with the public in formal or informal educational settings, a minimum of 3 years supervising volunteers and /or staff, and a minimum of 2 years managing projects, experience in program training and delivery. A Masters Degree in science or education and teaching certificate are preferred. Candidate must pass pre-employment and/or pre-duty checks, such as criminal background check, and reference checks.
