Grant Writing Intern

Digest topic: Jobs & Internships

Information

organization:Well Arts Institute
position summary:

Well Arts Institute is seeking a grant-writing intern to assist with grant-writing work at the Well Arts Office. We currently run two programs: Voices of Our Elders (working with elders of the community) and we are relaunching our War Echoes program working with veterans. We facilitate 8-10 week creative writing and visual art workshops. At the end of the workshop, each participant is given a bound book of their creations, and paired with a professional actor who rehearses with them and then performs their story on stage for the wider community. We usually partner with organizations for space and access to the communities we serve, and the partner organization receives an anthology of the workshop writings as well as a dvd of the performances.

Well Arts writes at least one grant every six weeks. We have set our grant-writing calendar for the year and assembled the applications and most of the necessary information (certain programs are still in planning stages, and that information will be made available no later than 5 weeks before grants are due). In this internship special focus will be given to project narrative writing and to research. We’ve arranged for tutorials for our intern with several professionals in the field. In addition, we have opportunities available for professional development workshops. We have ten years worth of past grant applications for reference. Most of the work would be completed in office hours to be negotiated upon completion of the interview process. We’re looking for an excellent writer and a thorough researcher who is organized, practical, professional, and deeply dedicated to the mission of our organization, which is “to explore, develop, and practice creativity as a means of wellness”.

Applicants should contact our Artistic Director at [email protected] or mail a cover letter and resume to Well Arts Institute, 2710 NE 14th Avenue, Portland Oregon 97212
