OMSI Development Website Intern

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a Development Website Intern. This is an unpaid position which offers the successful candidate the opportunity to learn more about fundraising through corporate and individual giving programs at a major non-profit organization. This position is available immediately, and will remain open until filled.

 

Position Summary: The Development Website Intern will be involved primarily with enhancing the Development Departments presence on the OMSI website (www.omsi.edu), thereby helping the development staff create more opportunities for patrons and friends of OMSI to support our work financially. In addition, the intern will provide basic administrative and/or event planning support to the department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Research and implement ways to improve patrons experience with online giving to OMSI. Profile donors, showcase giving opportunities, and make connections for OMSI patrons between programming and the benefits of donating. Develop a user friendly system to navigate throughout the Support OMSI pages of the OMSI website. Arrange appointments with donors and prospects for the Individual and Corporate Giving Directors as needed. Assist with prospect mailings for Presidents Circle and Corporate Partner membership programs. Assist with correspondence to donors and guests of the annual fundraising gala. Prepare catering orders and coordinate with appropriate museum departments to facilitate on-site donor and prospect meetings. Attend and provide assistance at events and meetings as needed. Assume other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Individual and Corporate Giving Directors.

 

Qualifications: Able to work independently and take initiative. Dependable and punctual, and able to make a strong commitment to OMSI. Must maintain a professional appearance. Willing to follow OMSI rules and procedures.

 

Required Skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook. Advanced letter writing and business communication skills. Data entry and typing; 10-key a plus. Some web design experience a plus.

 

Commitment: Three months 20 - 30 hours per week
