position summary:

General Description / Position Summary Raise significant philanthropic contributions in support of the mission and vision of Oregon Food Bank (OFB), primarily from individuals and family foundations. Fundraising initiatives include raising support for the purchase and distribution of food, nutrition education programs, capital campaigns, endowments, advocacy programs, event sponsorships, and operational support as described in the organization’s strategic plan and work plan objectives. Responsibilities include donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for major gifts.

Salary / Pay Rate:salary range starts at $49,220 annually
Required Skills and Abilities:Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required • Ability to understand and articulate the complex issues related to hunger and its root causes. Dedication to and enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Oregon Food Bank. • Experience in securing outright major gifts of $5,000 and up. • Motivated by both the ambitious goals of the organization and the fulfillment of philanthropic dreams of major donor prospects. Solutions driven; able to apply individualized, creative solutions based on the needs of donors. • Knowledge of and experience implementing Moves Management concepts. Familiarity with the Prospect module of The Raiser’s Edge a plus. • Demonstrated leadership experience for the successful leadership and mentoring of professional and support staff. • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability and personality to work collaboratively, accept responsibility, and motivate donors and staff. • Ability to organize fundraising activities effectively, prioritize prospects, and participate in high-level donor discussions. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Strong leadership, delegation, and team engagement skills. • Sound judgment and integrity. • Familiarity with the Portland philanthropic community a plus. • Experience working in a Development shop of 20 or more staff with a fundraising goal in excess of $10 million a plus. • Available to work evenings and weekends in order to accommodate the schedules of individual stakeholders and assist with development related events.
Qualifications:Education and/or Experience • Bachelor’s degree in related field, such as liberal arts, nonprofit management, marketing, sociology, or communications, plus five or more years of fundraising experience with a minimum of two years in high level giving by individuals. Educational qualifications may be waived depending on work history. • Proven track record of fundraising and relationship development. • Knowledge of all aspects of development including major gifts, planned giving, campaigns, event sponsorships, direct mail, and volunteer management. • Ability to prepare and present proposals, reports, and donor correspondence. • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office environment (primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook), The Raiser’s Edge, and standard office equipment. • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks, and produce accurate work. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to ask for financial support, make persuasive presentations, and develop reports that may include technical information. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Advanced knowledge of English grammar, spelling and usage. • Safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle for OFB business. • Must be able to pass criminal background check.
