Neighborhood House EOPK Home Visitor for African Immigrant Population: .5 FTE. Non-Exempt.

Job Responsibilities: The Home Visitor will be responsible for promoting and supporting the healthy growth and development of African immigrant families with children ages birth through three years of age. Primary responsibilities include program planning, delivery of all Early OPK services to families through a home-based option. The focus of this option is to educate the parents to understand the needs of their children and provide the necessary resources and activities for their children’s development

Minimum required qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social work, family studies or related field plus 2 years of classroom, home visiting or case management experience with families of children 0 to 3 , OR 2. Associate’s degree in the above fields or Infant/Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate) credential and 4 years of relevant experience. 3. Ability to obtain Food Handler’s Card within 1 week of hire. 4. Valid driver’s license, ability to be insured, reliable personal transportation, and proof of personal automobile insurance. 5. Must fluently speak and write one or more major African languages represented among the African Immigrant population in the area (Somali, Swahili, Maay Maay, Oromo, Arabic, Kiluba, Kirundi, Tigrina) in order to interpret and communicate as needed. 6. Physical requirements: be able to a. routinely lift 30 pounds, b. bend, stoop, and twist, and c. sit on the floor with infants/children. 7. Must pass criminal background check as a condition of employment. 8. Must successfully complete enrollment in Oregon Child Care Registry. 9. Must complete post offer health check for communicable disease including TB.

Salary / Pay Rate:Starting hourly range: $11.96 – 14.35.
