position summary:

Primary Purpose: The Development Specialist provides data management support to the development team, to ensure fulfillment of the organization’s annual fundraising objectives. This support involves timely and accurate data entry and management, as well as data reporting and analysis. The Development Specialist also supports foundation and event efforts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the development team to ensure that comprehensive fundraising data collection and reporting processes are in place.

• Maintain donor database including: creation of new donor records, gift entry, entry of pertinent notes and current donor contact information.

• Generate donor communications, acknowledgments and thank you cards, acknowledging all donations within 48 hours of receipt, including, but not limited to:

 Event and in-kind;  Memorial and honorarium cards;  Matching gifts.

• Prepare and file records related to donors and donations, both paper and/or electronic.

• Create and generate various donor reports and other data analysis as needed.

• Provide support to Development Director in coordinating and maintaining annual development reports and plans.

• Prepare and process bank deposits.

• Conduct donor research as directed, including helping create and maintain moves management system for donors and prospects.

• Provide support for foundation research and grant preparation.

• Under the supervision of the Events Manager:

 Ensure timely acknowledgement of sponsors, registrants and event donors;  Support the auction procurement process, including auction item inventory;  Attend auction committee meetings;  Provide support as-needed for Golf and Social events;  Provide post-event administrative support as needed.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide on-site support at fundraising events.

• Attend monthly staff and various department meetings.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:Requires a minimum of 2 years administrative experience working with data analysis and customer relationship management (CRM) systems or fundraising databases, preferably in a not-for-profit environment. In-depth knowledge and understanding of Raiser’s Edge is strongly preferred. BA required.
