Hospice Volunteers Wanted

Are you a well-rounded person with the desire to provide support to people who are in the last phase of life? If so, consider becoming a Hospice Patient Care Volunteer with Housecall Providers.

Housecall Providers is a nonprofit medical practice that provides primary care and hospice services to homebound seniors and people with disabilities throughout the Portland metro area. The hospice component offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support to our patients who are near the end of life.

Patient Care Volunteers complete 28 hours of training prior to seeing patients and may visit someone who lives in a care facility, run errands, or provide weekly respite visits so family members caring for a patient at home can have a break.

We also have volunteer opportunities for people interested in helping with our annual fund raising event, Pearls of Promise, which takes place September 19. Volunteers who help with fund raising or office work do not need to complete the 28-hour training.

Interviews are being scheduled for individuals interested in participating in the fall training. Classes take place at the Housecall Providers office and sessions include two Saturdays, from 9:00 – 3:30, and five evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.

For more information, please contact Karin O’Connor, Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, 503-988-5336 x 232 or [email protected].
