SUN School Homework Club Instructor, César Chavez K-8: 12 hrs/wk (incl. instruction & prep time). Monday-Thursday during the regular PPS school year, 2:15-4:30pm. Starting hourly range: $12.91-$15.50. Non-exempt.

Summary: Provides oversight of homework assistance activities during the SUN School Homework Club class. Plans and implements homework activities for students who do not have homework assignments or who complete homework early. Works directly with students, tracks their progress, and when necessary trains and oversees volunteer tutors to assist students in completing their homework assignments. Maintains a quiet Homework Club environment, answers questions and reviews student work; assists with SUN suppers program and records daily Homework Club attendance. Position manages student behavior in a way consistent with César Chavez SUN student expectations.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Associate’s degree in education or related field. 2. One year experience working with youth, preferably in teaching or academic setting. 3. Proficient organizational and disciplinary skills. 4. Ability to assist students in a wide range of academic subjects. 5. Experience and ability to work with students from diverse socio-economic or ethnic backgrounds. 6. Bilingual in Spanish and ability to translate and interpret orally in Spanish for families preferred. 7. Must pass criminal background check as condition of employment.
